HAUK was founded in 2021 by us, Friederike and Matthias.
In the midst of university studies, teacher training and the start of our careers, stress, time pressure and constant rushing began to dominate our lives far too quickly – and in an unhealthy way. Headaches, back pain and sleep problems increasingly affected our everyday wellbeing.

While looking for relief, we came across acupressure purely by chance – and were immediately fascinated by its simple yet remarkably effective impact. We experienced first-hand how enriching this traditional method from Chinese medicine can be, and how much it can help to ease pain and promote relaxation.

A similar sense of calm and clarity is something we have always felt during our many journeys through Northern Europe. The vast landscapes, quietness and fresh, crisp air inspired us so deeply that we eventually fulfilled a long-held dream: we moved to Scandinavia and founded our own small start-up, HAUK – named after our favourite beach in the far north.

We have always loved the idea of making acupressure more accessible to people as something so simple, yet so effective. With HAUK, we want to help people reduce stress, find moments of ease, and experience a touch of the calm and serenity of the north that we are now fortunate to enjoy every day.

That is why our acupressure mats are intentionally designed with a clear, calming Nordic aesthetic – we firmly believe that Nordic colours have a naturally soothing effect on us, even on a subconscious level.

As one of the few European manufacturers, we care deeply about sustainable production, fair working conditions, short transport routes and, above all, high-quality and long-lasting products. After an extensive search, we found a producer who meets all our standards for transparent and responsible manufacturing. And this transparency is something we also want to pass on to our customers.
